Photovoice Exhibition: Educators of Color •

Welcome to our Photovoice Exhibition!

The Storied Experiences of Educators of Color through Photovoice brings together teachers and other educators of color from throughout the New York - New Jersey - Ohio regions to engage around their experiences in P-12 schools.

In this photo exhibition, the educators share their responses to eight questions through captioned photographs:

  1. What does it mean to be a educator of Color in today’s schools?

  2. What fulfills you as a educator of Color in today’s schools?

  3. What are some challenges or roadblocks to achieving your professional goals?

  4. What sustains you in your work?

  5. What is your why?

  6. How do outside forces affect your teaching?

  7. What does it mean to develop professionally as a teacher of Color?

  8. What is the story you live by as a teacher of Color?

We invite you to engage with these photographs and hear from the educators themselves as they share their perspectives on their lives in schools. Please consider the ways that their perspectives intersect with your own, as well as how their words and images are meaningful for students, school, and society.
