Book banning, bathroom usage, history curriculums, and athletes on sports teams are outside distractions that impact the work that takes place in the classroom. Politics and education are a tug of war. Outside forces continually pull teachers in directions that are unpredictable. I like this picture because of the American flag in the center of the room where the students are pulling and tugging. The shadow in the photograph set the mood and tone. When I look at the picture I can see the struggle that is taking place emotionally and physically.
